Windows 10 on CF-19 MK6
Windows 10 on CF-19 MK6
Got my cf-19 yesterday, cheapest mk6 I could find on ebay and it's not too bad. Has 5360 hours on it and looks great. Couple pressure spots and a bright pixel but that doesn't bother me for the price. Its a CF-191dyc51m, has GPS and everything works.
I couldn't find much information on installing windows 10 on the mk-6 so I figured I would give it a shot. I used the free upgrade (on screen keyboard is assistive technologies right?)
So far everything works great, had to make one small change to the settings, I selected to disable the touch when the pen is being used as this would cause the pen to be jumpy. Also uninstalled the panasonic bluetooth software as the windows bluetooth support is pretty good. All the other Panasonic software seems to work as designed
I figured out a cool trick with the GPS. Since our GPS chip is com based it is only in use when a program accesses the com port. windows 10 added integration of GPS systems like a phone where the GPS is there for any program to use. I found a piece of software that pulls the GPS data from the com port and translates that to windows 10 sensor data. Now the GPS works like a phone where you can enable and disable it by turning location on and off. This allows you to use windows (bing) maps with turn by turn navigation. Also google maps on chrome works, as does any other website that can pull location. http://www.turboirc.com/gps7/
Verified today that the verizon card works perfect. Windows can connect and disconnect with no extra software.
As others have also noticed, screen brightness is a little different. I can get as low as %3 but as soon as I drop below that the backlight turns off. This is fine for me and I have no issues. Also the light sensor works fine and automatically adjusts the screen if you chose to enable that option.

I ran Win10 for a short while on my Mk6 and I HATED it. No alt-tab to desktop is super annoying.
That being said, I now run Win8.1 and i'm liking it so far.

What exactly is so awesome about the Mk8 anyway? If I compare the CPUs on CPUBoss the 3340M in the Mk7 is faster than the Mk8's 3610ME?Rob wrote:Win 10 Pro running flawlessly on my MK7 DT CF-19 as we speak!

Just looks like panasonic is doing a little apple magic. It has a bigger number so its better. Well you get Directx 11 and ECC memory support if that's your thing.User32 wrote:What exactly is so awesome about the Mk8 anyway? The big limiting factor is the passive cooling of the chassis, with no design changes to the case a 35w TDP processor is all you're going to be able to use.

The HD4000 GPU already supports DX11 so that only leaves ECC, which isn't that useful.Shackwrrr wrote:Just looks like panasonic is doing a little apple magic. It has a bigger number so its better. Weird move by the Japs in Kobe, though.

What drivers did you use? Currently attempting the Windows 8 drivers but they aren't very cooperative...
CF-29LTQGZBM, MK4, 1526mb, KingSpec 64GB SSD, DVD, GPS, Emissive, XP SP3
Re: Windows 10 on CF-19 MK6
Make sure you run the driver installer as Admin, and get the Mk7 drivers too.ares93 wrote:What drivers did you use? Currently attempting the Windows 8 drivers but they aren't very cooperative...

Since you are running W10 you should run O&O SHUT 10. It Will disable all the spying cap that MS put in it . Check out post #25 here http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads ... 178/page-3

Re: Windows 10 on CF-19 MK6
Really weird. All of the windows 8 MK6 drivers wont install, and give code 10 (cannot start) if i force them. But the MK7 Win 8.1 seems to work fine so far. Going through the driver bundle atm.User32 wrote:Make sure you run the driver installer as Admin, and get the Mk7 drivers too.ares93 wrote:What drivers did you use? Power management is still iffy, touch+pen still wont accept Panasonic drivers. They work but cant be calibrated and work simultaneously. Man i'm too tire for this rubbish right now. The toughbook can sit in the corner and be ashamed, i just bought a new (used, but new to me) bike i have to play with.
