PC Anywhere...
PC Anywhere...
Does anyone have a copy they can upload for me to have? Or know of a free solution that emulates PC Anywhere. Basically, I want to be able to control my kids/wifes laptop while on our home network to diagnose/troubleshoot, or lets face it, spy on them.
thanks in advance

Re: PC Anywhere...
So install and run crossloop on all the pc's? Is it like PCAnywhere where it runs in the background on the remote machines and I can connect and control at will from my host machine?

Re: PC Anywhere...
I'm sorry, I musta not read that you wanna "spy" on the user... LOL... no, the person using the machine needs to provide the access code for the remote user to connect...

Re: PC Anywhere...
Ok, let me clarify... Its not that I WANT to spy, I want to be ABLE to should the need arise. Those with teenage daughters/sons will understand with me. I trust them, I really do, but its others on the net that I don't trust and sometimes I just want to reassure myself what/where they are lurking. Plus, I am very familiar with PCanywhere and used it alot at the hospital for troubleshooting end-user mistakes so it would come in handy for that too.

Paul, I can see where you're coming from and I think every parent feel the same. While I trust my son, it's my daughter I don't!! LOL!! (think it's one of the adolescent hormone thingie!) I'll watch this thread patiently and see if the solutions get me some sleep!Doobi wrote:Its not that I WANT to spy, I want to be ABLE to should the need arise

Yep, it's my daugther, 13yo, going on twenty-something, has a great heart and great outlook, but new to internet and I am AFRAID of her becoming corrupt. Have already found spyware, trojans, and Limeware on her laptop that are indicative of not visiting, shall we say, computer friendly websites. All in naivety to be sure, but exposure I am not sure I want her to have. I have already looked into the limited parental controls on my router and firewall, but as we all know, they are NOT full proof. I hate to resolve to spying, but I also don't want her to think we don't trust her. Difficult position for parents to be in I am sure....

Re: PC Anywhere...
Doobi,
Don't know if this is any use.
http://www.anyplace-control.com/pcanywhere.shtml
It claims to be a more reasonably priced alternative to PCAnywhere, plus if you are bi-lingual and can help them with translation (or can post a link to a [presumably relevant] web site), they will give you a free registration key
May be worth trying their 30 free trial offer anyway
