CF52 i5 with 13" touchscreen?

Someone gave me a challenge. Bonus points if you can guess who.

Here is is.
Make a CF 52 with an i5 and a 13" touchscreen.

I have been thinking for a while on this. I think the easiest way is take a CF 52GUN top half and attach it to a later high (ATI) model CF 52. Hopefully the LCD wiring would be the same. Probably need the i5 LCD harness. I figure a high model is better because it uses CCFL like the CF 52GUN.
Then we need to figure the usb wiring to the touchscreen board. That should be 4 wires and fairly easy. Connect them to the smartcard port under the palmrest.

Last part of the puzzle is to extract the video portion of the CF 52 GUN BIOS and insert it in the later i5 BIOS. We may not need to do this. I think we do just to keep from confusing the motherboard.

This does sound like a sweet project, I have been hoping for years for a ATI CF-19 but non so far.

I scored a complete CF52GUN for $50 today. Includes HDD with caddy and AC adapter. I have a 52 mk3 ATI with high hours so Let the fun begin.

Although the res would be crappy at 1024x768 so now you're taking a nice ATI vid card pumping 1920x1200 and killing the nice FHD graphics.... At that point you are similar to an ATI CF-31 in performance sans the bulky platform but the CF-52 is still a LARGE laptop compared to the CF-54 and even the CF-53!

But you can get more performance out of the video card running it at lower resolution. Top end Desktop video cards on 1080 will play just about anything you want the last few years with out straining. Then they decided to go to 4k, if it wasn't for that it wouldn't of been much need to upgrade. That is why I avoid too high a resolution like that. It's more of a marketing thing.

I compare the alienware M11x to my Mk3 cf-19 on hardware. It's basically the same. The Mk3 is 1.2 core 2 duo with 4500 intel graphics, on the Alienware it's 1.3 core 2 duo with intel 4500, but I can swap the graphics manually with out rebooting to a 335gt. Even with loading web pages I can tell a difference. The screen resolution is also only 1366 x 768. It give you a wide screen with out going over the top. That is why I travel with it a lot.

I met a stumbling block.

The 13.3 inch lcd panel uses a 20 pin LVDS connector. 1channel 6bit...L5F30515P00..(1000nit) or L5S30348P01 (500nit)

The 15.4 inch lcd panel uses a 30 pin LVDS connector. 2 channel 6bit..LQ154M1LW1C or LQ154M1LG19
