I have a used CF-30 (MK2) with 2GB of Memory/ram. Does anyone have a recommendation for memory/ram (brand/type)? Standard DDR-2 PC-4200 200pin? If the "cheap ones" are okay, I´ll go with them, because it´s a used toughbook and I don´t want to spend too much money. I´m running WinXP, so I guess 4GB is the maximum. Thanks in advance.
I recommend a name brand, don't get some cheap off brand. I put Crucial memory in my CF-31, two 4gb chips for about $34, so it's not that expensive. You can go to the Crucial website, download their analyzer, tells you what to get, then buy the same Crucial brand chip on Amazon for less.
My wife's corporate laptop had serious problems because the IT dept sent some no name RAM, after a lot of troubleshooting they sent her a Crucial chip and it works perfect now.
Don't save a couple bucks, not worth it
We get some rules to follow.
That and this, these and those. CF-20 Mk1, CF-31 Mk5 i7, CF-31 Mk6 i7, FZ-G1 Mk2, CF-54 Mk2, CF-33, FZ-Q2, CF-74J, Star Labs Star Lite Mk3, Star Labs Labtop Mk3, Raspberry Pi 4b 8gb, Raspberry Pi-400, Raspberry Zero W(running piaware), Raspberry Pi 2
Don't be ashamed sir, a used Toughbook is a LOT of computer.
Good show on your research re: the max of 4GB. More ram does not cure anything if the system doesn't use it.
BTW if your unit has a smart card you may have to open the bottom case. Ask me PM about this re: installation, I don't always check back on previous posts.
