cf-51 no sound at all after Windows7

I would type in the brand and model of the sound chip

such as "realtek xyz100 or intel abc200 , win 7 driver into google and look for the manufacturers web site.

Have you tried Windows XP drivers ? That is what I used. You can get them here http://www.panasonic.com/business/Tough ... nloads.asp . Your CF-51 is a MK3LL . You need to go back and look at my 51 thread and look at my "Device Manager" and compare it to yours. See if you have the "HotKey " driver installed...see picture #3

like I said second hand computer I don't have any of the validation codes from previous owners how do I get the full upgrade without costing me because they did not set it up right

Even though this question is three years old, it's worth answering if it saves just ONE other person the headaches I experienced.

The key to easily getting the sound working in CF-51 Toughbooks (this model number anyway: CF-51RCLDFBM) in Windows 7 Ultimate is this:

UN-install the generic "Microsoft HD Audio Codec" that Windows 7 Ultimate always wrongly installs under "Sound Video and Game Controllers" for this audio chip. Then install the "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" provided here:

Since the visible URL doesn't change in the address bar, you'll have to choose "Drivers, BIOS, EC and More" from the left-hand menu; then choose "Individual Drivers"; then from the drop-downs, "Audio and Graphics" >"CF-51" - then the bottom choice>"mk3LL" >"Windows XP SP2">"English (North America)". The XP SP2 setup for this audio driver works flawlessly in Windows 7 Ultimate every time, (and I'm sure it also does in every other version of Windows ).

If you have trouble finding it on the Panasonic website... I'm pretty sure the "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" provided by Dell, IBM and several other manufacturers will also work for the CF-51.

Also, while I'm here: after struggling endlessly because of this confusing Windows 7 flaw - sometimes there is STILL one pesky "yellow triangle" left in Device Manager. It's usually this:

"Infineon Trusted Platform Module"

.. and the drivers for it can be found all over the web. I hope this info helps someone else, I struggled for almost two full days with these same CF-51 issues.
