You can't install just 1 or 2 drivers on these units, AFAIK.

You have to install all (most?) of the drivers, and IN ORDER (not yelling there, but stressing importance). It has to do with the way the drivers check the registry for existing values and add their own appropriate value(s).

The OEM images are awesome and simplify the process greatly. You will find many, many threads on fubar situations with people trying to install drivers without reading reading reading the faq and resource threads I linked earlier. Again, not trying to be a douche, just stating the (well) known.

No can do...remember the restore disks are not like a XP cd they are an image of the hdd when it left the factory. To get the drivers you need to download them from here... http://www.toughbookdrivers.com/drivers ... -29%20MK3/ . This is a great site because it tells you what every driver is and what it does but you will need to install all the drivers to get it right...not just a few.

follow this when installing the drivers

Try downloading SP3 as a file to your computer, then try to install. I have had that problem before trying to install SP2. Hope that helps.

What I've been doing is installing Avast antivirus. Part of the install is Google Chrome. Then using Chrome I install Internet Explorer 8. Then for a couple days it will keep telling you that you are missing critical components like Microsoft .net framework, possibly Java(jre7),Windows installer 3.1 KB893803, on and on. Adobe is another.
Meanwhile Chrome keeps working.
Microsoft is not helpful in the older XP machines. In the case of Factory Restore they come stock with I.E.4 and sometimes 6. Another thing you could look for is the complete SP3 package.
You're doing o.k. it's I.E. that has the problem.
I imagine others like myself have most of these files squirreled away on a USB stick or hard-drive. Maybe at some point I will write down the necessaries. I just get excited and go on until I run into a problem, download the cure and on we go.

Jeff..as stated above while Morgan and I were double posting SP3 may cure most of your ills.
Fair for you/ Fair for me.
I chose to NOT be organized.

If you can't find a offline installer for sp3 to download you can get a copy from on-disk.com

http://on-disk.com/index.php/cPath/21/o ... g2u6gcg5l3

http://on-disk.com/product_info.php/cPa ... cts_id/563

They even offer updates for win 98, etc that may be hard or impossible to find now. The disk is only 4 bucks.

I have XP SP3 on one of my many hdds. It is a Microsoft download. It is 316.43MB in size. I can burn it to a cd, or put it on a usb stick, and mail it to you no charge. Or I could upload it to the file host of your choice. Options are good.
