I have a stupid A790 in my shop that needs to be repaired.

#1 Post by Rob »

Guys,

Anyone know anything about the A790's? I have one (Pics below) that has a proprietary ass expansion thing bolted to the bottom of it. Not sure about the board but know that it's for analyzing concrete and a company called Test Consult in the UK built it: http://www.testconsult.co.uk/

Anyways, I was gonna buy one off eBay and transplant the expansion board. Thoughts?

Thanks!

At a glance it looks like a clone or poor knock off of our miltorpe's. Always did hate those clunky slow things. Found the pdf's with specs and such. Good luck.
CF-29ET, CF-28ST, CF-30G , CF-M34, CF-19Ch, CF-19FH, CF-19CD, CF-73 mk1, CF-74K & H, CF-51RCB, CF-51RCL, CF-52CC .

As long as the deal is good for you it is good for me.

The problem is they are so expensive for very little bang,I understand the thing is customized for a purpose but I wonder is that board can be transplanted into or onto something more rugged, faster and less money. Not enough room in a CF-30 case by a long shot from that photo.

Looks like a transplant to the same model is the best option,by the time you are done the bill is going to be 2 grand at least. Ouch.

I'm curious to know how much of that mess is the laptop and how much the board. So what exactly happened to the actual laptop?

link to pdf on the equipment you have..looks like a SCXT2000

http://www.testconsult.co.uk/datasheets ... XT2000.pdf

From what I read, the base is not custom, it's an expansion pci card setup, made by Getac.

Check out this link..
