CF-52 shoulder strap solution?

#1 Post by Rob »

CF-52 shoulder strap solution - what are my options?

My mother wants one for her CF-52 without having to carry around a bag.

The CF-29's had the option to have a strap... (I had one). Just wondering.

Thanks!

option 1: but a case for it with a shoulder strap
option 2: just put a nylon strap through the handle of the laptop
option 3: buy some epoxy that is made to work on plastics from home depot. epoxy some brackets to the side of the laptop and attach a strap. I use a strap for a shotgun/rifle on mine and it works pretty well.

How about going to Wal-Mart and buying some QD sling swivels, like used to mount a sling on a rifle. They are quick detach (hence the name).

You would want to use the types that are secured with a nut on the inside, as opposed to a wood screw type mount I would think to keep them from spinning out over time. This would mean two holes in your case, but you could then easily use any 1" - 1.25" sling for the notebook, even the padded ones. I was thinking of doing this to my CF-29.

Until today, when I say the factory sit-up that has two D-rings mounted on the back. Now I am on a mission to find that!

Good luck!

BatteryBackup, with all of your "helpful" suggestions, you forgot to mention that she could carry the notebook in a plastic garbage bag ...

Azrial, they make a specific strap that has a long and skinny connector that clips to both side of the back corners of the CF-29 (I had one for $35 back in the day), so before you go drilling holes, try to find that from Heartland or eBay

Heres the best solution. Change the handle with one from cf-27. I do beleived they have the same mounting holes for screws. The cf-27 handle has an O ring for strap at it base.

I DON'T HAVE USE FOR AN OLD CF-27!!! I just need an old CF-27 handle!!! LOL

If someone wants me to paypal them $5 to cover shipping I'll take one, if not I'll just buy the one on ebay for $10.

Thanks!

P.S. Azrial, if I were you I'd take a trip to the hardware store and fabricate something... Not that hard seriously... and if you can't fabricate something then ship the laptop to me and I'll do it for you :)... Seriously though, it wouldn't be hard at all for me to fabricate something PROFESSIONAL and good looking!!! I might even do it free of charge ;)
