Thanks. Lets see what Crucial sends with the SSD, I know they don't pack the transfer/clone cable but lucky for me I have an old one I can use.

Please read Les Tokar's SSD Guide. He states cloning is a bad idea for an SSD installation. It will work fine for a little while and then performance takes a huge nosedive. No point in that!

Take the time and do it right!
Rugged Toughbooks of all types... CF-31s, CF-30s, CF-29s, CF-19s, CF-52s, CF-53s, CF-74s, CF-H2... Hmmm... What else can I buy, build or modify?

Correct, but you can adjust the settings to correct the problems. I use Acronis then tweak things according to this guide.

I use G4L, for what it's worth. It's free, quick and does the trick.

As for cloning to SSD, I've successfully done it a few times but I've always ended up formatting and starting from scratch after a while, for various reasons.

DriveImageXML is my tool for the job here!!! Freeware for personal use and takes sector by sector clones of your existing HDD and then parses the file name structure to am XML file.

Only snag with it is the HDD you are cloning needs to be plugged into another computer externally with a HDD caddy kit and cloned that way.

However, as quite rightly stated above cloning and then deploying back onto an SSD is a no no, performance will be shocking!!!! And whatever you do, DO NOT DEFRAG AN SSD!!!!!! Do a Google
