Shawn, have you tried loading "playonlinux"? it's in the repositories...and then run it that way:

Just found this thread. I'm sure Shawn has it figured out by now and has a program to do what he wants. I don't know about gimp nor mirage...which come on Mx-16. Dolphin Oracle (guru that makes their videos) uses: Pinta (it's in the repositories) and is very basic yet simple to use...I'm guessing so...

I might be mistaken, however I think this great thread will help out CF-19 Mk 6 users wanting to try Linux.

I have a MK6 on order, but not in hands yet. I know Shawn has one and I think is using Zorin. He'll chime in soon I would think. The Mk 6 is similar to newer CF-31's so Sheepman might have some insight. Have you tried booting any other distributions of Linux yet i.e. Debian based such as MX-16, LMDE...

In bios she reads: 596,230 hours. You'll have to ask the previous owner. She's a MK2 intel i5-2520M with 4 GB ram. She booted Linux usb, 1307 mb to ram mounted at /live/boot-dev and mounted persistence file rootfs at live/persist-root. Very, very bright indeed those LED's. Just need a cd/dvd drive, ...

I just tried the directions on page 3 of this post using a gifted CF-31JCG802M. The mouse pad cursor would not work until I followed "lefty's" directions on this awesome thread. I booted up my 53J with MX-16 persistent usb and followed the directions in Terminal while on the 53J. Turned of...

Yes, your sighs you posted sum it up. I was too hopeful I guess. Glad that Linux works for me...
