Re: I need a new(er) fast(er) CF-19, MK5 vs MK6???

Look up Windows 10 Debloat script to cleanup all the MS rubbish. I really appreciate TunerStudio and MegaLogViewer having native Linux versions. Here's a screenshot of my CrossOver menu so you can get a general idea of what I have installed. I'll post up a complete list later today. Screenshot at 20...

Re: Best distros for older CF-M34 MK7 and me?

Ubuntu 7.04 shouldn't have failed, I've run it on a Pentium with 256MB RAM. Your M34 should be a Pentium III. If the alternative version, which will be ncurses not graphical install, doesn't work I'd suggest your RAM isn't stable enough. If you can find Debian Lenny (5.x) or Squeeze (6.x) you may wa...

Re: Best distros for older CF-M34 MK7 and me?

I dislike Windows 10 immensly, Windows 7 was the last decent Windows in my no so humble opinion. I'm a Linux user now and only have Windows for some tuning programs (e.g. Haltech NSP).

Re: Best distros for older CF-M34 MK7 and me?

I, personally, would get iso images for old Ubuntu versions such as 7.04 (my personal favourite), 8.04, 10.04, 12.04 and try them. These were back in the day when Ubuntu was a very refined Debian with some underhood adjustments. See if 12.04 works, if yes then stay with it, if no then try 10.04 etc....

Windows 7 is still usable, I have it on a 29, another option is CrossOver (which is a very refined WINE) in Debian which I run alot of tuning (cars) software on.

Re: So... who's gonna start a thread about FZ-55?

I posted in a different thread about the next new model because later this year I will be in the market for a new lappy. I haven't considered the FZ-55 because it doesn't appear to be "fully rugged" so I'm not sure if it is supposed to be a direct replacement for the venerable CF-3x series...

Re: What Models are you still playing with?

There is something SUPER exciding coming later this year as well but I can't legally share what it is... But I've seen it and I can tell you it's FULLY rugged and it may or may not be a direct replacement for the poor discontinued (yet loved) CF-31! Later this year? are you allowed to give an appro...

Re: Wanted CF-29 ide/sata adapter

I have 1 and won't use it now due to it blowing fuses in 2 of my 3 CF-29s.
I'd be getting an IDE to M.2 case rather than get one of these old adaptors. Something like this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/183625107646 would do the trick nicely.

Re: Hackintoshing a CF-31

I am finding this interesting, and one day I might do it myself, but then I boot my machines and it is quick and painless and I see Linux.

I really admire the effort you are putting in to it. Keep us posted.

Re: CF-29 kernel config.

Last time I ran linux on a Toughbook was when Ubuntu 10.10 came out, It ran great with out much headache, even dual booted it on my 29 with XP. I still keep a pendrive loaded with linux incase I need it. Well I was , am, working on Rugged but life got extremely busy and my net connection sucked, in...
