Toughbooks are a bit different and I knew that going into this upgrade, thus the title to the post. An...

What was I thinking... AKA Windows 10
So the short version of the story is that I got impatient and manually downloaded Windows 10 instead of waiting for the automatic background downloader. It will load on a CF-52 Mk 4 and work.... sort of. So far the short list of issues: 1. Drive encryption has been flakey for me at best- I almost ha...

Re: CF-31 Mk2 -- Win 7 32bit or 64bit OS restore
I agree it should be fine, as long as you don't need anything above 4GB as a 32 bit OS will not address memory above that limit. With 8GB available, 1/2 of what you have will be unused. Personally, I run 64 bit because it is a bit of a pet peeve to want to use what I paid for. I have not had any iss...

Re: CF-19 time!!!!!!
Where it's damaged on the backside, it is causing the cursor to go back to same location. Regardless of what I am doing. Going to have to go inside and mechanically disable the touch. :violent: Double check and make sure that there is not just a goober stuck in the small gap between the screen and ...

Re: Getting Windows 7 to work on a Mark 1 CF-30
Rob, I cannot download the drivers zip file. The following error message appears in both Firefox and IE: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ''pass' (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE), expecting ']' in F:\Websites\toughbooktalk.com\public_downloads\index.php on line 1019 Is there a problem with my web e...

Re: Windows 10 Technical Preview
I got an icon in my system tray today that invites me to sign up for the pre-order. I am debating it on this computer because several military websites I use don't even like Windows 8 yet, much less 10. I am thinking about updating all of the rest of my computers.

Re: CF-19 adding Lenovo Gobi 4000
That might explain it. I assumed yours was an earlier model based on the 3G card. You know what they say about assuming...
Now you have me curious. I may just have to try my Mk3 and see if it can even recognize the card. So many Toughbooks, so little time.
