Re: Back to experimenting with Linux

I think it has a CD and floppy. I can't remember for sure. I might have to give that one a try.

Re: Back to experimenting with Linux

I already have a 19. I just have to do some homework for a workable solution for the TPM chip when I swap hard drives. Its main purpose is for use on military duty and I like to use the whole drive encryption built into Windows. While I understand that a 28 won't be much for daily use (thus why it i...

Back to experimenting with Linux

I took a few steps back from the IT world for a while, but I got a wild hair today and decided to give a failed Linux Mint 18 install another try. I managed to get it to boot this time and plan to use it for a bit of a learning tool. I kind of got the bug about a month ago when I built a Linux based...

Re: USB Killer 2.0 - 220V

Another feature that makes me wonder right along with you is the fact that the USB ports on Toughbook have fuses. I think 220V would be able to arc regardless, but it would be an interesting experiment. And no, I am not volunteering any of mine to try it. :)

Re: CF31 motherboard swap mk1..mk2

Just turn the laptop upside down. It might take some getting used to having the screen under your elbows, but hey- the touchpad works great! :)

I know you can switch the buttons in most drivers, but inverting the touch input is something I have never seen.

Re: How do I put a shoulder strap on my new CF-53?

The CF-27 handle mod will not fit on this one?

Edit: just looked closer- mounting is different. bummer.

Re: CF-18 Mk5 -- WinXP Tablet Edition

Restore discs are usually the best route. As you have already discovered, unusual issues can creep in with a custom install on these Panasonics. I am a notorious cheapskate and I would spend the $35. If not, any of the options provided can get you running, albeit with an investment of time instead o...

Re: CF-18 Mk5 -- WinXP Tablet Edition

I found this link that might help. This process only works with a Tablet version activation key as I understand. From the model number given, the factory attached Windows key on the bottom of the case should be what they need if it is still there.
