Re: cf-18 mk2 touchscreen restore issues

Hello. I have had much success restoring several cf-18s's (multiple MK's) using a panasonic CF-VDRRT2 usb cd/dvd drive. This drive works where many other brands failed (were notrecognized). I am by no means an expert, but I think toughbooks are finnicky about the cd/dvd drive used for restore. I hav...

Re: Help with ID

Thor, are you sure I can't interest you in a 700MHz CF-M34? I have it loaded with XP and all you need to do is plug in a USB or PCMCIA wifi card and you are ready to rock. I can probably make you a great deal on one as I have three or four right now. Trooper, I truely appreciate the offer, however ...

Re: Help with ID

OK. I attempted to boot from an external CD drive, & it was no go. In the bios, I have the boot option of A:/ or A:/C. A:/C is selected. Can anyone tell me what went wrong & how to correct it? I even tried a floppy USB drive with no luck. Also, after fooling a little with a CF-27 300MHz runn...

Re: Help with ID

After a little more research, I have found that according to the Panasonic Toughbook configurator, the cf-m34 came with a Celeron 300 processor. I still don't kow where that puts my unit in regard to mark number. I appreciate the offer on your C-M34's. I have a couple of CF-18's that I love and boug...

Help with ID

Hello. I just bought a used CF-17 & I can't find too much information about it anywhere. I understand that it is a version of the CF-M34 chassis. It is a model CF-17TR42AEM according to the marking on the bottom of the unit. I know that it has a 300mHz, 4.3GB HD, 96mb RAM. Other than that, I hav...

Re: CF-18 keyboard & memory upgrades.

Keyboard switch was a piece of cake & it works beautifully. The RAM issue is still pending. Still waiting on my new chip, but I'm not anticipating any problems. Now I just need to find a set of restore disks & I will be set. Thanks again for all of the help & encouragement.

Re: CF-18 keyboard & memory upgrades.

Thanks. I appreciate the help. This is the first time I have opened up my CF-18 & I'm a little nervous. Will I need any other supplies for this switch out? Also on the memory - what type of 1gb stick do I need? - ( speed & DDR, DDR2, etc). Thanks

CF-18 keyboard & memory upgrades.

I am hoping someone here can answer my questions. I am interested in upgrading the keyboard on my cf-18 mkI (CF-18BDAZXMM) to a backlit model. Does this model have the wiring to support this upgrade? I also want to max out the ram. How much & what type do I need? Any input is greatly appreciated...

Cf-28 Hard Drive question

Hello all. I just purchased an old CF-28. It didn't include HDD or caddy. I have located a caddy and need direction in purchasing a HDD. This is my first toughbook "rebuild" and am not sure on what type of HDD I need to purchase (SATA, ATA, IDE, EIDE, etc). I plan on loading XP on this. Th...
